Faith vs. Works

Series: Cart Before the Horse: Doing Things in God's Order

"I have faith, but I make sure to do good works, too, since 'faith without works is dead.'"  This is a statement that any of us might make based on the writings of James, but we must be careful that we aren't reading James inside out.  Combined with the writings of Paul, we find in scripture verses that say we aren't justified by works and verses that say we are justified by works.  How do we reconcile these verses that seem to oppose one another?
